Things definitely were not looking to get any better. Fortunately I met a Baptist pastor who was conducting Bible Studies where I was incarcerated.

The Stories of

Those impacted

04

A young man in his twenties said that about a year ago while visiting his Grandfather in Hospice, his Grandfather had told him that he had accepted the Lord two days before and proceeded to tell him all about it. He urged him not to wait as long as he did to secure his salvation, but to do it soon, so he could enjoy life instead of being miserable as he had been for most of his life. This had weighed heavy on this young man and he sought to drown it out with drugs and alcohol, which landed him in jail. Satan meant it for evil, looking to destroy him. But, God meant it for good and led him to our Bible study where he accepted Christ.

About a year ago a lady in our church brought to my attention a man who was a shut-in by the name of Don. Don had prostate cancer and was dying a slow lonely death. During our visit, he made it clear he did not want us there anymore, so we left. Some time passed and the lady who sent us informed us that Don had taken a turn for the worse and was admitted into Hospice. We visited again. He was much thinner (as if that were possible) and the cancer had robbed him of his sight. We tried leading him to the Lord for the second time. To our shock he said that he still was not ready. I turned to Don and said, “Do you know where you are? You are in Hospice! You are leaving here in a box! I am sorry for being so harsh with you but this is your last chance to let the Lord into your heart. Wouldn’t you like to do that now while you are still able?” Don was silent for a minute then unclenched his fists, relaxed his facial muscles and whispered “yes”. Three days later Don went to be with the Lord.

In the foyer, on the way to a bible study in the jail, Echeveria, while clutching her two daughters was weeping profusely. Her husband, standing a few feet away with his two sons looked tired and confused. She found out i was the chaplain and began asking qustions since her son had recently been saved in our bible study. Knowing that I had about thirty minutes before my class, I asked if I could explain to them, using the Bible, what they were having trouble understanding. They nodded their heads yes, and I proceeded to give them the plan of salvation. Midway through the plan Mr. Echeveria, visibly upset with the Bibles portrayal of the Catholic Church, took his two sons and walked away. However, ten minutes later Mrs. Echeveria and her two daughters accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior! As I related the story of what just had happened with The Echeveria’s at the bible study, eleven men came forward to accept Christ as their savior.
